I have recently been studying the Holocaust in school and I have been compelled to be a voice for those that are persecuted for their differences in our world today. So many people have been persecuted throughout history because of their skin color, religion, and beliefs and dehumanized and mocked in a way that no person should ever have to feel. And the sad thing is that so many people are still treated that way around the world. Our world hasn’t changed like it needs to. We need to start learning from our past mistakes and move on because we are all human.
God individually created and specifically designed each and every one of us. “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” (Jeremiah 1:5, NIV) No one is an accident. God made everything, and we shouldn’t go around mocking and criticizing His divine work of art.
Our differences don’t make us better or worse than others. We were all created equally by our Creator, yet a lot of times we selfishly put ourselves before others.
If we want the world to change, we need to change and work on our personal lives first. We need to make a choice to be a voice for others. We can’t do it on our own though. We need to ask our Heavenly Father to help us. I encourage you to think of some people groups, and even specific people that you know are persecuted for their differences, and write it down to remember them. Then, make it your personal goal to help those people and to be a voice where no one else will be one.
One group that is overlooked a lot in our society today is unborn children. They are often aborted because their parents don’t want the responsibility of parenthood. And legally our country is letting millions of babies die, just like the Holocaust. I will be a voice for those children. I will be a voice even for those that have different beliefs and moral standards than I do, because everyone deserves a right to be treated fairly. I’m not saying that we all have to have the same opinions, because we definitely don’t. That is part of the beauty of God’s creation. He made it so diverse and beautiful. God loves diversity, and so do I.
Now you get to make a decision on whether or not you will choose to celebrate and embrace our differences. You get the choice to be a world changer, and I’m willing to be one. Are you?
