Bringing Out Her Gifts

October 5, 2013 by Leave a Comment

God gave each of us a dose creativity when He knit us together in our mother’s womb. Some sing, others paint, many snap pictures, and some are servants. He has given us each different gifts and talents and all of these work together for His kingdom.

As moms, we need to encourage our children in their creativity, in their areas of gifting.

If you and your daughter know her gifting, encourage her.

Participate with her. If she likes tennis, play with her. If she likes photography, go on a photography walk with her. If she is into fashion, walk the malls and talk about what you see.

Support her. Gift things to her that support her passion. My daughter has been looking at camera straps online today, so I plan to save the money to purchase a camera strap for her soon. If your daughter paints, save up to purchase a new brush or canvas for her. Maybe a class to help her continue to learn.

Support her emotionally. Give her words of encouragement. Tell her how proud you are of her accomplishments and her progress.

Never laugh at her. As we learn something new, sometimes we mess up. Even the most accomplished folks can have an ‘off day’ from time to time. If she misses a note on her instrument, strikes out in softball, or misses a step in the dance, never laugh at her expense. Instead, help her get back up and try again.

If you and your daughter do not yet know her gifting, be on the look out for it.

Keep your eyes open. What is she naturally good at? What does she always gravitate to? Maybe that is her gifting from God.

Keep your ears open. What does she talk about often? Does she mention wanting to try something?

Your daughter has a gift. Something God gave her that makes her unique and useful for His purpose and plan. Help her find it and encourage her in it. She will always remember and appreciate your support.
