…you’re looking at the future…
Help us ensure girls everywhere have an opportunity to be part of a Whatever Girls group
where they can gain confidence in who God created them to be, learn to take their
thoughts captive and not be ruled by their emotions, learn to put into practice
the virtues Philippians 4:8, and be discipled in their God-given purposes
Will you help us start more Whatever Girls groups?
If I have learned just one thing this past year, it’s this: we were made for community and through community, we can bring hope to the hurting. Social isolation and living disconnected from friends, family, and social structures like school, sports, church, and youth group is highly detrimental (especially) for children, and can lead to stress, depression, anxiety, fear, hopelessness, poor sleep quality, negative thoughts, and thoughts of suicide. This is compounded for young people because they are still learning how to understand and express their emotions, often, while navigating hormones. For some girls, Whatever Girls has been their only social outlet and connection to the outside world during the lockdown, and we have taken this opportunity to teach the girls we mentor about the importance of taking control of their thought life, or, “taking their thoughts captive” and how hold to their thoughts up to the living and active Word of God to discern truth.
Whatever Girls’ mission is to “Empower girls, support moms, and inspire dads to put into practice the virtues of Philippians 4:8 through products, resources, and community.” and our vision is “A world where girls are rooted and discipled in their God-given purposes in order to influence families and communities for Christ.” One of the biggest ways we accomplish this is through our groups.
“The battle in our mind begins young and Whatever Girls is helping build a strong foundation for my daughters by facilitating these conversations early along with verses and friendships.” –Cathy, mom
Now more than ever, parents are looking for solid resources and a safe community to help them raise daughters who are rooted in Biblical truth and discipled in their God-given purposes. This is a great opportunity for Whatever Girls to help meet the needs of these families in Spokane and beyond.
You’ve heard the phrase “the hand that rocks the cradle rules the world”, right? It’s true. Moms are one of the primary influencers in a girl’s life, so we need to raise up an army of moms (and grandmas, aunts, and mentors) for the battlefield to start and multiply Whatever Girls groups throughout Spokane and across America. Change starts within the four walls of one home at a time, like it did over ten years ago, when I started Whatever Girls in my living room for my daughter and her friends. We have an opportunity to influence our culture today, and for generations to come.
“My daughter Rory got involved with the Whatever Girls during the course of the pandemic. Her Whatever Girls group has provided her with a safe place to meet other girls and to experience the fellowship that God created for us. Rory participated in a mother-daughter weekend where she got to play with other girls and participate in a camp like environment. When Rory returned home, I asked her what her favorite part was. She told me that all of the adults there prayed for her. This to me as a single father really brought joy to my heart. If we did not have Whatever Girls I am not sure what outlet my youngest child would have had to practice social skills, make friends and more importantly, learn about the Bible.”-Mitch
Due to the 2020-21 lockdown restrictions, some Whatever Girls groups are now only able to meet online after several months of being able to meet in person since the last lockdown. Girls have a deeply felt need to be loved and fit in, and based on what we have learned about the impact of social isolation, we have an even greater urgency to start new groups and develop creative ways to keep our girls engaged, encouraged, and rooted in biblical truth.
Due to the cancellation of our two big fundraisers in 2020, our annual Empowering Women Brunch and Awards in the spring, and our Father Daughter Ball in November, we are facing a projected budget shortfall of at least $30,000. Yet, the need has never been greater.
Will you please help us?
Would you please consider partnering with us in 2021 to ensure girls in Spokane and across America have an opportunity to be part of a Whatever Girls group where they can gain confidence in who God created them to be, learn to take their thoughts captive and not be ruled by their emotions, learn to put into practice the virtues Philippians 4:8, and be discipled in their God-given purposes?
